Who we are

Los! is a free, self-guided walking tour web app for Oslo, operated by Gard Ringen Høibjerg, based in Norway.

What data we collect

Los! is designed to collect as little data as possible. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any account information to use the app.

If you have given your consent, we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data, including:

• Pages visited and time spent on the app
• Your approximate location (country or city level, not precise)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• How you arrived at the site (e.g. via a link or search engine)

Your IP address is anonymised before it is processed by Google. We cannot identify you personally from this data.

If you complete a tour, we log the time taken to finish it (duration only, no personal identifiers) via Google Sheets. This helps us understand how the tours are being used.

Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to distinguish between visitors and track usage over time. These cookies are only set if you have given your consent.

We use sessionStorage (not cookies) to save your tour progress locally in your browser whilst you play. This data never leaves your device and is automatically deleted when you close the browser tab.

You can manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

Los! is used by people in the European Union and Norway. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases:

• Consent — Google Analytics is only activated after you have explicitly accepted cookies via our consent banner.
• Legitimate interest — Anonymous tour completion times are logged to help us improve the product. No personal data is involved.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by declining cookies in your browser or by contacting us.

How we share your data

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is shared only with:

• Google LLC — for analytics purposes, under Google’s data processing terms. Google may transfer data outside the EU under Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
• Google LLC — tour completion times are stored in Google Sheets, hosted on Google’s servers.

If you make a donation, payment is handled by a third-party provider (such as Vipps or Stripe). Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details of how they handle your payment information.

Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. We recommend setting this to the minimum available in your GA account settings.

Anonymous tour completion times in Google Sheets are retained indefinitely for statistical purposes, but contain no personal identifiers.

Your rights

If you are located in the EU or EEA, you have the following rights under GDPR:

• The right to access the personal data we hold about you
• The right to correct inaccurate data
• The right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
• The right to object to or restrict processing
• The right to withdraw consent at any time
• The right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.no

Children

Los! is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of Los! after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
